Hello, this is my first post and I have to tell that I am new in arch, my problem is when I power on my pc I can't put the resolution I want in uvesafb and this command don't tell me nothing, I mean, the command tell me that it isn't exist, when I put in terminal grep uvesafb I have 3 errors that right now I can't put and I will put later, my drivers are catalyst of amd and with the radeon drivers kms function and it isn't neccesary the use o uvesafb
Thanks for the attention and sorry for my bad English

Have you installed and configured a framebuffer driver? Please detail the exact steps you have used.

mm, i did this:
Install uvesafb(with normal steps that was in arch page of uvesafb) I configure with the configuration that was in and in the part of optimizing resolution that has a command when i put the comman in this tell me that : cat /sys/bus/platform/drivers/uvesafb/uvesafb.0/vbe_modes
cat: /sys/bus/platform/drivers/uvesafb/uvesafb.0/vbe_modes: No existe el fichero o el directorio
this is the exit of command, and when the uvesafb is configured with many differents resolutions, any resolution has function for me, uvesafb give these errors
jun 06 00:42:57 Agm28011997 kernel: uvesafb: Getting VBE info block failed (eax=0x4f00, err=1)
jun 06 00:42:57 Agm28011997 kernel: uvesafb: vbe_init() failed with -22
jun 06 00:42:57 Agm28011997 kernel: uvesafb: probe of uvesafb.0 failed with error -22
I tried many things like change the resolutions and other things like the order of hooks and nothing sorry I am new posting questions, i always tried to do these things without helps but i am lost

That suggests uvesafb has problems connecting with your videocard.
please post the output of lspci -k .

I don't know if it's possible to have problems with videocard when for me all type of graphics and acceleration 3D works fine, I have done many tests like glxgears
And.. why doesn't exist the file? in arch wiki says that command...

uvesafb relies on VBE = Vesa Bios Extensions .
The last version of VBE is 3.0 , from september 1998 .
Many newer cards don't support it anymore.
/sys/bus/platform/drivers/uvesafb/uvesafb.0/vbe_modes is probably created by uvesafb AFTER it figured out which modes are supported.
Please tell us what you expect uvesafb to do, maybe we can help you to find an alternative.

my objetive is to get plymouth works well, i get the solar theme but plymouth is shown in bad format, i mean, in bad resolution and it has problems showing the theme because is shown weir, i don't know how to explain what plymouth do in the boot screen and other probem that has is that are letters in the screen when is booting, in the same screen , with the theme of plymouth running in the background, I tried to put radeon drivers and with that and KMS it functions normal and well. have you tried to put plymouth without put the module of the graphics in mkinitcpio.conf? well, with that aspect run plymouth. are there any method for showing plymoth like with radeon but with fglrx? or is it imposible?

If you have neither KMS nor a framebuffer, Plymouth will fall back to text-mode.
Text-mode is very limited, however it does has some options.
append vga=ask to your kernel boot line.
It will show which modes / resolutions are supported by bios on your system,
Plymouth also can use the UEFI/EFI framebuffer, but to make that work you have to boot with uefi.
Does your HP have uefi support ?

well, yes, my hp has uefi support and secure boot activated too(I was a long time reading many texts with information about it and after a time I get running arch with uefi and secure boot) what I have to do for use the framebuffer of hp? I have to eliminate some configurations of uvesafb and other like the files and hooks are opening in boot by mkinitcpio?
Offline
Yes, you should remove uvesafb and everything you added for it from mkinitcpio.
You do have both quiet and splash parameters on the kernel boot line ?
Also verify if you are running the latest firmware for your system.

Yes, I have quiet and splash in kernel parameters and.. I have the computer totally upgraded but.. when you says if I am running the latest firmware, what you mean? Bios/uefi version? If it's that I think there are only one version more but the only thing is that hp only has bios updated and other programs for windows (shit of hp)

That's what i meant, and i know what you mean.
A friend of mine has a HP pavillion laptop, it's setup for dual booting to allow such updates.

Well, I think I am going to wait for my next pc because the pc is of my sister and I prefer don't touch things like bios/uefi, if the pc brokes she will kill me, I only will upgrade the bios if is totally needed or if is mine pc, thanks for the help mate the plymouth is going to wait kms for amd catalyst xd
