Pulseaudio/ALSA getting confused by two microphone - wont detect one.

Hi,

I have one sound card, with two analog inputs on my ASUS laptop. One built into the laptop, and one plugged into the 3.5mm analog audio jack (my headset). `alsamixer` suggests ALSA has found two mics - it shows 2 capture volume controls and 2 input source controls. I'm using the `pavucontrol` pulseaudio configuration tool to test what is going on with these two mics since it has a handy level meter built in. pavucontrol shows two input sources too; "Microphone" and "Analog Input". However, both are coupled to the first alsamixer mic controls. I.e. if I open pavucontrol and alsamixer I can see the set of controls for the one mic in ALSA controlling both in pulseaudio.

I have been trying to find an answer to this all day with no luck. Only found one other post describing the same thing with no resolution - https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/questi … ulseaudio/. Anyone have any idea if there is a fix or if this is a known bug?? Here is what I think is the most relevant hardware details (you can see the 2 sets of input controls metioned in the last output).

Any advice much appreciated.
