I have added the following to /etc/sudoers
%users ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /sbin/halt, /sbin/reboot, /sbin/reboot -n, /sbin/shutdown -h now
(All my users belong to the users group)
But when I try to shutdown or reboot from within xfce4, I get a prompt for my password. Typing either the user or the roor password, does not work. I can only end the xfce4 session and then shutdown or reboot from the command prompt.
What am I doing wrong?
Rob.

xfce4 has a slightly different way of handling this - see here for details.

Thanks. That is what I needed. It now works once I modified the following in my /etc/sudoers file.
%users ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /sbin/halt, /sbin/reboot, /sbin/reboot -n, /sbin/shutdown -h now, /opt/xfce4/libexec/xfsm-shutdown-helper
