[Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

I have an Intel WiFi Link 5100 using the iwlwifi driver. The network comes up when I boot and works fine for a while, then suddenly stops. The card is still recognized, but I can't bring up a connection.

Re: [Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

Try disabling the power management:

# iw dev wlp2s0 set power_save off

More suggestions here:

Re: [Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

Power management is already disabled, you can see that from the output of "iwconfig wlp2s0". It was the first thing I tried. I also tried turning off wireless N which was suggested in the wiki and that did not help either, so I caved and posted to the forums. tongue

D'oh! Sorry...

Have you tried the 11n_disable & swcrypto options?

Re: [Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

Yep, I have wireless N turned off on my laptop and my router is set to only use wireless G. Still does not help. I think there is something else going on.

Re: [Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

Kernel bug here that looks similar:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91171

It is declared to be a "platform issue" and marked WILL_NOT_FIX sad

Have you tried the LTS kernel?

Re: [Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

no, I haven't. I'll install the LTS kernel and see if that helps. If I need to, I guess I can just replace the wifi card with one from an old out of commission laptop. sad Thanks for your help!

Re: [Solved] Wireless Network Connection keeps going down

I installed and booted the LTS kernel, it's been about 12 hours and the wireless is still up! If it stays up after I run some tests it just might be fixed for now. Thanks Head_on_a_Stick.
