Kaffeine 0.8 won't play DVD

I just tried to play a DVD in kaffeine 0.8 and it won't work. Other players don't have any trouble, mplayer and ogle, and neither does kaffeine if I use 'pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/kaffeine-0.7.1-5.pkg.tar.gz' as root to downgrade.

I tried to start fresh by removing ~/.kde/share/config/kaffeinerc and ~/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine. When I do that both kaffeine 0.7 and 0.8 report 'Can't check DMA mode. Permission denied or no such device: "/dev/dvd"' under DVD in the first start configuration list. 0.7 then plays the DVDs anyway, 0.8 just reports 'No DVD Video found'

It's not a permissions problem. Using kdesu to run kaffeine with root privileges gives exactly the same results. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Re: Kaffeine 0.8 won't play DVD

no sure if this is related but I can't play dvds too with kaffeine 0.8 ( it used to work in 0.7.1).

I have found a workaround however. If I File> open > dvd:/ ( or dvd: , I don't remember ), it will play the dvd movie. I'm guessing this is a kaffeine 0.8 bug.
