I have an X58 Xeon X5670. The stock speed is 2.93ghz. In the BIOS I've adjusted the BCLK and Mutliplier to get me to 3.8ghz (The chip itself is capable of 4.4 although runs a bit hot). However, Arch shows the speed as 2.93. I thought maybe the bios had somehow been reset, but even after a couple of reboots, the bios is showing it as 3.8ghz, as soon as I use a tool in linux it shows as the stock values.
I-Nex shows 2.93 and $ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq shows 2934000
Any ideas why this doesn't tally with the bios? If I had a windows installation I'd check what that reports but I don't.

Ok if anyone's interested, it seems that cpufreq isn't as helpful as it should be. Using the tool i7z shows the correct values for everything.
