Gummiboot future?

Today Phoronix gave this News:

http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … ot-Is-Dead

Basically, the Gummiboot git was zeroed. As far that I know, systemd was to implement its own Gummiboot for UEFI Booting, which makes sense since the Gummiboot dev and one of the most importants systemd devs is the same guy.

Since Arch Linux by default uses systemd, I suppose that a single sided transition would be rather easy. However, in what other use cases does Gummiboot integration into systemd affects the previous standalone Gummiboot capabilities? Is the package going to be replaced by systemd integrated one?

Re: Gummiboot future?

Transition is simple:

gummiboot remove
bootctl install
pacman -R gummiboot
systemctl reboot

They are one and the same thing, effectively. It is probably easier to think of it as a rebrand. Or you could choose to see it as another leap forward in the systemd-isation of ALL THE THINGS™…
