Crashing at boot - UDev uevents

Hey everybody.  I just two days ago did an Syu, and I haven't had much time to work on it until now, but my computer is F'd to high heaven.

At first I ran into the NVIDIA won't install issue, so I thought, Hell, I'll just downgrade the kernel from the pacman cache, and wait for the problem to get resolved.  Only problem was that downgrading UDev had a cascade of other things I had to take care of.  So I reupgraded (an -Su reinstalled everything from the cache)

Now, unless I pass grub the emergency tag, "Starting UDev Daemon" fails and the PC freezes (overnight) at Loading UDev uevents.  I've read the txt file that comes with UDev 88-2, but it doesn't provide any insight.

I think I'm going to just do the downgrade thing for the time being, because this is frustrating and I need my computer.  But I'm still curious as to what the hell might be going on.

Re: Crashing at boot - UDev uevents

I've heard this a lot already, and I haven't really read any explanation or solution yet. I'm still holding off any upgrades until the mirrors are synced properly (which, according to some reports in #archlinux, still hasn't happened sad ).

Re: Crashing at boot - UDev uevents

perhaps your hang is also serial prot related, we had a bug about that on bugtracker, try to enable/disable serial ports in your bios.
