I've tryed to install the catalyst 15.7 (I've used pamac), but at the reboot I can see only the mouse pointer and a black background.
I've tryed to make a startx via ctrl+alt+f2 but no effect sad
Some one have an idea?

Ehmm, if you see the mouse pointer then X is already started... are you running Arch or some other spin-off distro?

By the way, the key combination Ctrl+Alt+F2 is used to switch to the second virtual console (formerly tty2) so can you elaborate on what you actually done? Since pamac is a GUI tool I assume you already have a DE or a WM installed, which one are you using? and how do you start X usually?

I don't use lightDM so I can't help you very much, but here there is another thread describing a similar issue https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=198166. Can you post the content of your .local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log? Is your system fully updated?

Re: Driver r9 290

Tell us if you've followed the instructions correctly, that is:

* Adding the repository on the top of all others, in pacman.conf;

* Importing and locally signing Vi0l0's GPG key;

* Installing the necessary packages (catalyst-hook  catalyst-utils catalyst-libgl opencl-catalyst  lib32-catalyst-utils lib32-catalyst-libgl lib32-opencl-catalyst);

* Issuing "aticonfig --initial";

* Creating a file called "/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf" which contains: "blacklist radeon" (without quotes);

* Disabled modeseting: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … odesetting https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_parameters

* Rebooted.
