The today's upgrade was disaster for me, so I tried to downgrade to linux-4.0.7-2-i686.
Pacman would not let me because of vhba-module and nvidia-340xx linux>=4.1 dependencies.
Any help is appreciated.
I am having chroot-access with the arch install disc to the PC.
Sorry that I cant post the kernel error message, it says something about not syncing.
If necessary I can upload a photo of it somewhere and link it here.
Thank you

Downgrade all packages that needs the older Kernel as a dependency -- nVidia and others, for example. Unless you cleared your pacman cache, they should still be on your machine. Also: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … g_packages

As for downgrading, I don't have anything to add. However, as for getting some kind of error message, do you have the the "quiet" kernel parameter on? You can see this, and change this, in GRUB at least (haven't used anything else since LILO years ago) by pressing "e" at the selection screen. You may be able to get something else out of it if you do that.

OK solved by downgrading kernel and the dependcies, blocked all the related packaging for updates as well.
The grub2 loglevel ist set to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="loglevel3"
The machine boots and after a second it stops.
I have uploaded it, if someone is interested in.

I got that error today when upgrading to 4.1.2-2 on an Asus M4A785-m motherboard. Solved by downgrading the kernel. I'm using syslinux to boot. Are you using LVM by any chance?
If I code something, it's probably at https://github.com/kellcodes

I am using an encrypted root / swap and an encrypted LVM.

Well, this could have something to do with how it's handling the hard drive ("not syncing"), but I'm no expert.
I know this hasn't happened on my non-lvm system, so this might be something to do with the kernel.
