How do you downgrade if you didn't install the previous package?

I'm completely new to the Arch Linux way, and just installed everything the other day. I noticed in the Gnome/Lockscreen the text is cut-off on the time and date in the lockscreen.

I've found this thread here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=199406 that also mentions how some people resolved it.

The solution proposed by some is to downgrade the Freetype2 package from 2.6-1 to the 2.5.5-1. I never installed version 2.5.5-1 as I am on a fresh install with version 2.6-1.

How would I downgrade in this case?
