Hi, I am a newbie and I just installed arch again for the first time in years. I decided to go with kde plasma 5, and proceeded to install plasma on a new arch install by following this guide http://www.linuxveda.com/2015/02/27/how … rch-linux/ . After installation I set sddm to start, and I ran it and booted to a working desktop, just missing all the applications and widgets. It looks like this http://i60.tinypic.com/2uhuafc.png .It's also missing all applications except the settings option for plasma in the K start button. Anyone have an idea of what I didn't do right or how to remedy this? Thanks in advance.

You should follow Arch Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE#Plasma_Desktop
And please don't post full screen pictures: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … s_and_code

There's nothing wrong with this. You installed plasma, and you have a plasma desktop. If you want applications, you have to install them: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KDE

Well I know I installed some packages, like whatever comes with dolphin and firefox, but they're not there in the menu.

My bad I figured it out, I was looking into the "Favorites" as that came up default in the K menu instead of applications. Stupid human error. I appreciate you taking your time for a reply though guys. I won't post any full screen pics again thanks didn't know that.
