SoundConverter and faac problem

Hi, I have always had a problem with SoundConverter and AAC output: whatever quality I set, from "very low" to "insanely high" I get exactly the same output file. I think it is a faac related issue, as some time ago it happened with Audacity too. It's not a SoundConverter bug, as on other distros with (same versions of SC and gstreamer) there are no issues at all.
Any suggestion?
