Kernel panic on AMD Sempron 3400+ after upgrade to 4.0

I had problems with my computer kernel-panicking at boot after upgrading to 4.0, specs are Sempron 3400+ with Radeon Xpress 1150 on-board graphics, ancient, I know, and if needed, I'll try and hunt down the exact message in the logs, but anyone else having problems like that on 4.0 with AMD regardless of hardware age or no?

*SOLVED* Just switched to linux-lts and the system boots like normal.

Re: Kernel panic on AMD Sempron 3400+ after upgrade to 4.0

I always appreciate when people post their solution.

Had same issue ever since upgrade to 4.0. Never really got to fixing since i have 2 other identical ARCHs. Only difference is this one is AMD and not Intel.

Thanks

@supergeek800: if this thread really is "solved", it should be marked as such!

Switching to linux-lts is _not_ a solution, it will just delay the inevitable. When linux-lts gets updated to a more recent kernel version and if this problem is not fixed you will be left with no options.

If you have the time you should report the problem upstream, if not reported already, and if possible try to bisect the kernel to find the commit that breaks things for you.
