Arch Linux lenovo miix 2 8inch

Hello

I was posting on https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p1542995 but is was closed.

I was tried to install arch on this device but I want to install on x64 version.

The specs of this devices says it has a x86 processor.

Does it posible?

Re: Arch Linux lenovo miix 2 8inch

The link you posted for the CPU shows it as having a 64-bit instruction set, so I don't see why not.  Further, read this.

Hello

Yes, it is true, but the device has windows 8.1 x86 out of the box.

On this discution says I will need to use x86 boot script to boot arch from usb https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p1542995

Thanks

Yes, the UEFI implementation is 32bit even though the CPU is 64bit. So you need to use a 32bit UEFI loader. While Arch does package them, the install ISO doesn't contain one. This isn't specific to Arch, no distro supports 32bit UEFI out of the box. You need to add a 32bit loader to the install media yourself.

Yes, once you get the x86.efi loader to load the ISO, the menu lets you choose to boot/install x64.

When installing the bootloader at the end, you have to take care to create and let it use the arch x86.efi of course. See the note box for instructions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … e#Non_Macs
