Wifi has died since upgrade - interfaces not even recognised

I recently did an upgrade as usual, but unfortunately I've now lost all wifi capabilities. I've tried two wireless usb cards and the problem occurs for both.

When I run iwconfig - absolutely nothing. When I run lsusb -v, I see both wireless adapters being identified (only 1 plugged in at a time).

Following the wireless network configuration didn't get me very far because my interfaces are not even being recognised. Not sure what to do here?

Any ideas? Any easy way to completely the roll back the last upgrade, or see what was installed and manually rollback each package?

What was upgraded? Read pacman's log. Read the wiki page on downgrading.

What cards/drivers?

In addition to the steps described by jasonwryan, please post the output of:

ip l
dmesg|grep 'wlp\|firmw'

Make sure the kernel you are running is the same as the kernel that is installed.

Compare the version numbers provided by uname -a
and by pacman -Qi linux
