Using KVM for Windows Gaming with a single GPU

Hey guys! First time posting on these forums but I've been lurking for years. There's a few windows specific games I'd like to play that cant be run in WINE and I saw that this was possible with a multi GPU setup using KVM.
My questions are the following: Is there a way to run windows in a kvm or similar but have it "take over" the system when ran? Is there a way to use KVM vga passthrough with only 1 gpu? I know that kernel 3.17 and above support pcie reset so I'm thinking this could be possible. I have a 980ti and I want to be able to use it both in linux and windows without dual booting. At least until Arma 3 gets it's rumored linux port.

Thanks!

Interresting idea, I read about it a bit and I really think you need two graphics cards for this since both systems need full access to a video card.
