Is AUR3 being deleted, or moved to aur3.archlinux.org? (Please move)

On Aug 8, when AUR4 moves to aur.archlinux.org, is AUR3 (the pre-Aug 8 aur.archlinux.org) going to move somewhere, like to aur3.archlinux.org?  Or is it just being deleted?

If the plan is to delete it, I think it would be very much worthwhile instead moving it to aur3.archlinux.org.  There are a lot of packages not on AUR4, that if someone wants to resurrect an orphaned package someday, it can be very helpful to see previous work done.  (Of course, making it read only would be fine.)

(I ask because I see aur2.archlinux.org doesn't exist.)

People had a lot of time to bring packages to aur4. AUR mirror should continue to exist http://pkgbuild.com/git/aur-mirror.git/

So there's no "live" version of the old AUR, at least readonly? That's a real shame.

I planned to use the yaourt's --aur-url option precisely for this - there's many good packages that people didn't bother moving.

Trying to clone the mirror repo is out of question, way too large hmm

If people didn't bother moving it after months of talk about AUR4 switch, it is quite safe to presume that there was not enough interest in those packages.
And there has been -plenty- of talk about new AUR. It's Arch -User- Repository, don't expect devs to do -users'- job.

Not do anyone's job, just keep it online... I thought we're waiting for the authors to reupload it, and then it'll just get auto-uploaded to the new system. It's not even possible to easily search the archive repo (yaourt -Ss was nice)

Oh I was cloning it wrong, that's why it took so long. Never mind me.
Now to write a script for searching the archive and it's all good big_smile

If anyone's interested, here's a dump of the archive, organized by first letter (because 70k files in a folder is not ideal):

We had a month where the maintainer could reupload a package. Then we had a month where anyone could reupload a package.

By the way, some people are mirroring the old AUR on github. There you can leverage the full power of the github search:

https://github.com/felixonmars/aur-mirror/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=filename%3APKGBUILD+test&type=Code

for local use I have a bare mirror where I can search with "git ls-files" and "git grep"

I think it's good to not keep aur3 around as it will encourage/force adoption of aur4.

However it might be useful to make it a bit more explicit that aur3 packages can still be made by going to the mirror repo and downloading the PKGBUILD and .install files and using makepkg.

There's just one AUR now, it's just confusing that aur4.* isn't redirected to aur.*

If you look at the last packages list, you can check that they are indeed the same.
I'd use regular aur.* now, aur4.* may go away after a while.
