Hi there,
I'm trying to install Xorg and eventually Gnome. I've installed these packages:
xorg-server
xorg-server-utils
xorg-apps
xorg-init
But
startx
produces:
(EE) Fatal server error: No screens found.
According to
lspci | grep VGA
my graphics card is:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMT/ATI] Amethyst XT [Radeon R9 M295X Mac Edition].
This is running on an iMac 5k. I'm OK with getting Arch to display less than 5k resolution if it comes to that.
I've installed the open source driver, xf86-video-ati.
In another post someone suggested running this command might shed some light on the situation:
$ ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
[no files]
Thank you for any help you can give - I'm very new to this!

Is mesa installed ( pacman -Qs mesa ) ?
please post var/log/xorg.0.log .
Also check the arch wiki pages for Xorg and Xinitrc .
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
(A works at time B) && (time C > time B ) ≠ (A works at time C)

I managed to solve this by reinstalling the drivers and installing mesa (and rebooting). Thank you for the help!
