How to get the number of votes for all AUR3 packages?

I would like to see which popular packages haven’t made it into AUR4 yet.

Not sure if comments or votes from aur3 have been preserved for the packages that haven't been migrated.
Any reason why you haven't done it a week ago?

Here’s roughly what I did:

• Get a list of all 72335 AUR4 packages. (Seems like the mirror is slightly out of date but that shouldn’t have much of an effect.)

• Get a list of all 6774 AUR3 packages with 15 or more votes. (Retrieved from archive.org so the data is not perfect as the snapshots are scattered over time and obviously from the past.)

• Remove all AUR4 packages from the AUR3 list.

• Search for all remaining packages in the current AUR4 and remove those found. (As mentioned above the mirror is slightly out of date, so checking the live AUR4 removed some more.)

• Look up the votes for the remaining packages.

And if I didn’t make any mistakes, these are the most popular AUR3 packages missing from AUR4:

• 234 backintime-gtk

• 234 backintime-gnome

• 219 android-ndk64

• 219 android-ndk32

• 182 padevchooser

• 171 bin32-wine-snapshot

• 170 tintwizard-svn

• 170 gtk-theme-shiki-colors

• 164 avant-window-navigator-bzr

• 163 tupac

• 157 fbsplash-theme-arch-black-extras

• 84 kernel-netbook-headers

I expected a longer list. If anyone feels like checking this result or looking at packages with fewer than 15 votes, that would be great.

If you need a PKGBUILD for foo and it's not in the repos, not in the AUR, not in the mirror of the old AUR, then read the wiki and try creating one yourself or as for help on the forum.

What do you need the list of packages that used to be popular for?

I wanted to know how complete the transition to AUR4 was and whether any popular packages were left behind.

Who cares what used to be popular? I used to be popular in high school.  That's not geting me any dates now.

Most packages that were popular in AUR3 are still going to be popular today. I didn’t care about the popularity in particular, I was curious about the AUR4 transition of popular AUR3 packages.

The number of votes a package had at the time of migration is not an accurate measure of how popular it is. Votes do not expire (except possibly when dead accounts are purged from the AUR), so the majority of the votes could be from 2011, when $package received a lot of attention.

If it's not been transferred over to AUR4, then it's clearly not popular enough for someone to step up and maintain it.

Popularity metric in AUR4 works in a different manner, so it may be interesting to see how it changes in the coming year i.e. top 100 popular packages now v. top 100 popular packages in mid-2016.
