MacbookPro 9,2 hardware errors on Arch OS, not present on OSX[SOLVED]

My battery has been suddenly dying and the system clock resetting to 01.01.2013 on my Arch installation. This has happened multiple times now, and a new phenomenon has started occurring where my laptop turns itself on when plugged in to charge before I hit the power button. I'm using a mid-2012 macbook pro and the installation was working flawlessly for 6 months prior to last week.

I've been to a computer repair shop and tried a replacement battery and the issues persisted. They tested my original battery and nothing appeared out of the ordinary. My friend suggested it could either be a firmware issue or an issue with NVRAM or the system management controller so I repartitioned the hard drive and reinstalled OS X mavericks in order to reset the VRAM and SMC and get any vital firmware updates I might have missed.

OSX mavericks does not appear to have any of the same issues after ~12 hours testing, whereas when I reinstall Arch I run into the same sudden power loss issues again within an hour. I was wondering if it could be a problem with the motherboard, but in that case, would the problem not persist across both operating systems?

I cannot find any documentation on the wiki or elsewhere that describes this happening. Computer repair shops do not generally cater for someone who uses linux so I am at a loose end for where I could go to get specialised knowledge on this subject.

My reddit post in /r/archlinux seemed to suggest that it was a kernel issue and that I should try downgrading but I have not had the opportunity to reinstall Arch yet. I will reinstall Arch OS tomorrow and will try and report back with a downgraded kernel.

Edit - solved with a fresh reinstall and kernal downgrade.
