I'm using wingpanel-rewrite-x11-bzr and mostly Alucryd's repo.

Works: Slingshot (wingpanel-indicator-launcher-bzr from AUR), Datetime (wingpanel-indicator-datetime-bzr), Network (wingpanel-indicator-network-bzr), Power (wingpanel-indicator-power-bzr), Session (wingpanel-indicator-session-bzr)

Sorta works: Notifications (wingpanel-indicator-notifications-bzr) - Works except icon is broken

Doesn't work: Sound (wingpanel-indicator-sound-bzr) - Crashes wingpanel when installed https://github.com/alucryd/aur-alucryd/issues/26

Non Pantheon indicators don't work, like Variety and Caffeine.  They worked with the 0.3 version of wingpanel.

The Elementary theme doesn't play well with hidpi, so I'm using Arc.  However, Arc has text shadows in the indicator drop downs.  I keep meaning to add issues to Arc's repo, but haven't.

Hi,

I am trying to install Pantheon, and I am having build issues from AUR. So I decided to get packages form Alucryd's repository, but I get the following errors:

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

Pantheon-lite up and running without much else:
Screenshot_from_2015_07_21_18_03_44.jpg

Good to be back! Been a little down lately, like crashed and wiped and down. Still in pantheon-lite rehabilitation, but nonetheless operational and Pantheon again smile

The good news is that I get another chance to go through all the bugs and document how to fix them. So many, somanybugs..... so, "yaourt -Sbb" pretty much everything.

Not exactly Pantheon news, but since it's hosted (until I start on aur4) in pantheon-bzr-qq: glippy{,-git}

Glippy, long abandoned, was abruptly deleted from bzr by it's developer not long ago sad I've put up a git repository from the last tarball in the hope that glippy can continue.

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

Installing everything from a fresh install of Arch Linux. Installing `lightdm-pantheon-greeter-bzr` from AUR failed.

What I did:

Install NVIDIA drivers and generate the xorg conf

Install from AUR:
    pantheon-session-bzr
    lightdm-bzr

When I tried to install lightdm-pantheon-greeter-bzr, after

(1/1) installing lightdm-pantheon-greeter-bzr

comes

error: Error opening directory '/etc/dconf/db': No such file or directory

Usage:
    dconf update

Update the system dconf databases

How do I fix this?

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

@Alucryd: I started installing all the pantheon components  from instructions on the wiki, until I discovered this thread.
I had a partly working system, but mostly the wingpanel was broken.

I installed pantheon-unstable group and it replaced the wingpanel with the x11 version, but now I do not have any wingpanel at all, is there something I have missed?
I love Arch and Pantheon, so having them both working great together is a natural for me ... please let me know how to fix this.

Thanks,

PS: I do have the error below during the package install: (dconf update), same error as post above.

Error opening directory '/etc/dconf/db': No such file or directory

I do have dconf-editor installed ......

Had the same dconf-error during installation, don't know if it affects anything, i have a partially working pantheon-shell so far.

For wingpanel you must install the x11-version together with at least one working indicator. Working indicators at the moment are:

wingpanel-indicator-launcher (for slingshot)
wingpanel-indicator-datetime
wingpanel-indicator-network
wingpanel-indicator-power
wingpanel-indicator-notifications (only in alucryds pantheon-repo)
wingpanel-indicator-session

Wingpanel crashes imediatly after installing wingpanel-indicator-sound

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

So I have done some debugging on this, the -X11 version of wingpanel won't run at all, I get this when trying to manually launch it:

Any ideas?

Ahh .. I see a bug report here: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wing … sound-bzr/

I used only bzr versions, but I didn't use alucryds repo. I installed as much as worked from a.u.r.. Almost everything except dpms-helper, default-settings (had build errors)  and some switchboard plugins which depended on those two. So, got the prebuilded dpms and settings packeges from alucryds repo afterwards. Then I went on installing switchboard plugins from a.u.r. This worked for me 2-3 days ago.

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

I tried installing the -aur versions, but all it does is re-install the pantheon-unstable ones again ..
I was using "packer" to install the -aur versions ..

Do I have to un-install the pantheon-unstable ones first? That seems a bit weird ..

EDIT: It seems packer was giving me double-ups on the numbering for the pantheon packages and the AUR packages, I was just re-installing the pantheon packages.
I set packer to --auronly and installed all the packages fine.

I now have working indicators: "Applications, Date/Time, Sound,Network,Power,Login/Suspend" .... yahoo! smile
Even "System Settings" is working ..... now all I need is for the window decorations to work wink

Thanks for the help

Hi Again,

Anyone know why the terminal keeps displaying the following text for any action:

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

Yeah, me. Here's why.

Unfortunately this cannot be fixed in the terminal, so I'd very much appreaciate a pointer to whatever adds

; printf "\033]0;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}" "${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"'

so I could fix this bug on the other side.

Update: So xapantu has tracked that part down to Arch's default bashrc. I'll post a patch for it soon.

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

Hi all!

Just in case, I put some (probably horrible) scripts to build some components of pantheon there https://github.com/xapantu/aur-alucryd (it just builds the PKGBUILD Alucryd made wink ) They are probably not usable directly, but I think they can be adapted without too much work for your installation.
I set up this because I do some development on Pantheon frome time to time.

Most errors that you encountered here are caused by a too old wingpanel and too new indicators, so just wait for your packages update or build them yourself wink

edit 2: Please note that, as Shnatsel said, what follows is a hack.

edit: Just for the record, I helped Shnatsel to diagnose the problem, and it looks like there is a ";" which should not be here in /etc/bash.bashrc, in the lines:

    PROMPT_COMMAND=${PROMPT_COMMAND:+$PROMPT_COMMAND; }'printf "\033]0;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}" "${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"'

and it works better with :

    PROMPT_COMMAND=${PROMPT_COMMAND:+$PROMPT_COMMAND }'printf "\033]0;%s@%s:%s\007" "${USER}" "${HOSTNAME%%.*}" "${PWD/#$HOME/\~}"'

(just remember that breaking your shell configuration system-wide can prevent you from logging from any account, and trust me that's quite annoying)

Re: Pantheon Shell on Archlinux

On another topic, does anyone know how to link in xscreensaver with the "Lock" item on the power indicator?

The section in the wiki states:

For Lock functionality, one can replace gnome-screensaver with xscreensaver or light-locker and a script that emulates the gnome-screensaver dbus.

But I don't know what sort of script is needed.

Cheers,

xscreensaver-dbus-screenlock exists for precisely this purpose. It will also connect xscreensaver to the hotkey (Ctrl+L).

Didn't I already put this (and links to my git repo) in the wiki?
EDIT: Yes, I did. Please follow the links in the wiki.

This is no longer necessary for light-locker; light-locker-dbus-screenlock is discontinued.

Perhaps my sense of style is a little off; I expect that readers would click or at least mouse-over the links within the sentence that describes the solution they are looking for... the link does not explicitly describe itself as xscreensaver-dbus-screenlock in the text, but you may notice that "xscreensaver" in the sentence you quoted before is an off-site link, to something that solves this problem using xscreensaver.

It would have been much more obvious if the link read "xscreensaver-dbus-screenlock", because I did not mouse hover over it,  assuming  it was just a link to xscreensaver .... and I already have that.
Being explicit is always good wink

I am no guru wink

I'm afraid you're on your own with both ARM and Packer. Most likely the package is missing because we've transitioned to AUR4 and I haven't updated.

The script itself is python (and ancient copy pasta from the ubuntu forums). I don't think you'd have any trouble downloading the files from my repo and building your own package with makepkg (there isn't really anything to build, it just zips the files up and makes sure pacman can install them in the right place).

Many thanks Wiki Guru smile  I did not see it in ArchLinux ARM AUR? is it only in the x86 repo's ? (or is that already AUR4), anyway packer can't find it.

I am no guru wink

I'm afraid you're on your own with both ARM and Packer. Most likely the package is missing because we've transitioned to AUR4 and I haven't updated.

The script itself is python (and ancient copy pasta from the ubuntu forums). I would, but I always have trouble finding the URL to do a "git clone" on .....  where do I find it in the github page you linked  ...

I tried:

 git clone https://github.com/quequotion/pantheon-bzr-qq/tree/master/EXTRAS/xscreensaver-dbus-screenlock

.. but not found ..

Thanks, done

It does not work though. Both the "Lock" menu item in the power indicator, or "CTL-L". I have tried a re-login and even a restart. (.. and yes, xscreensaver is running)
Also "xscreensaver-control --lock" locks the screen fine, but my user password won't un-lock it. I have to change to another TTY and kill xscreensaver to get back.
