Rhythmbox Does Not Recognize .mp3 Files

Rhythmbox is not recognizing my .mp3 files. If I convert all of them to .ogg files they work perfectly, so its not a problem of pointing to the wrong folder or something weird with the folder hierarchy. There are no warnings about "Unknown Playback" or anything, the files just simply do not show up when trying to add them to my library.

I think I have the necessary gstreamer plugins installed. Why is this happening?

My music is in my Music folder which uses the proper directory structure. The Music folder is also set in preferences. I am using cinnamon by the way, but I don't think it should make a difference.
