I'm getting really hard crashes running Minecraft (the package from the AUR). Sometimes it runs okay for a few minutes, usually it crashes right away. It's not consistent what happens either: sometimes my monitors turn off, sometimes they change to a solid color (one turns pink, the other turns light blue). Sometimes sound turns off, sometimes it keeps playing (I could hear Netflix continue to play once), sometimes it starts looping. The keyboard and mouse become completely unresponsive, I can't switch VTs using Ctrl-Alt-F keys. I can SSH into the box to kill the Minecraft process, but the computer doesn't recover. I can usually reboot the machine via SSH but one time even that didn't work, the reboot command ran successfully but it hung on shutdown and I had to kill the power. One time it crashed so hard I couldn't even SSH in.
I only have one graphics card, a GeForce GTX 570, using the nvidia driver. I can run other demanding 3D games (e.g. Team Fortress 2) just fine.
The Minecraft process isn't outputting any error messages, the only error I see in my Xorg log is "Error systemd-logind returned paused fd for drm node. No devices detected." but I'm unsure if that is related.
Any ideas?

Have you done the Intel Microcode Update are you trying to use Minecraft with openjdk7? if so switch to openjdk8 or downgrade openjdk7

I have the latest microcode. Switching from 8 to 7 didn't work.

Latest release of openjdk7 has some memory leaking problems, see: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/45824 sorry forgot to add that to my initial post ![]()

But it was crashing with 8. Switching to 7 seemed to fix it...
Well nevermind, I'm getting the same crash with 7. No solution yet.
