License of PKGBUILD scripts

Hello everybody,

I was just wondering, what is the license of all PKGBUILD scripts?

Cheers,

Dennis

Below I'm expressing my opinion. I'm not a lawyer.

PKGBUILDs, just like configure scripts et cetera, may in many jurisdictions not even fall under the copyright law. Even if they're de jure copyrightable, it's quite unprobable that anyone will try to sue someone for intellectual property infringement, which makes them de facto non-copyrightable.

Ditto, but see: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=200786

Re: License of PKGBUILD scripts

The social pressure is another issue. It's nice to provide information on other or previous authors, but it has nothing to do with the law. OP would not gain community's respect by telling he's the sole author of something he haven't created, but no one could sue him for that.
