Thinkpad T410 mouse issue

I have been facing this problem as of recently . I like to use my trackpoint on my laptop but it just wont work , at times reloading the psmouse module helps but then again it stops working. Its a very sporadic problem and "dmesg" shows

[11981.973831] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[11981.975792] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[11981.977503] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[11981.986308] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[11981.988072] psmouse serio1: TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1

not exact but similar error . I cant post from my laptop as the mouse is not working again. I tried adding "i8042.nomux" and "i8042.noacpi" even "psmouse.proto=imps" to my kernel options but no use. Even reverted 4.0.7 kernel and even LTS kernel but in all the effects remain. The mouse works for a random time after a reboot or at times didn't work even after a reboot. Just for info the trackpoint and the touchpad both stop working so I cant use the system at all .
