Built-in Microphone: Pulseaudio/ALSA records static.

Hello, I am attempting to get my microphone working with Pulseaudio with intentions to be using it with Skype. So far I've successfully recorded static by using [arecord comand] and I can successfully record voice with [working arecord command]. I changed the sampling rate as mentioned in [the link to that wiki] but recording regularily still does not work. I've verified that it is not muted and that it detects sound in pavucontrol. Alsamixer shows "Pulseaudio" as my device's card. It still records static and I am completely lost on to what to continue to troubleshoot. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance,

    and when i run  arecord -f dat -r 60000 -D hw:0,0 -d 5 test.wav it works fine , and in skype the problem is the same.
