[SOLVED] Problem with World of Warcraft & Wine

SOLVED:
------------------------------------------------------------------

I got it working, this latest patch for wow seemed to cause a lot of issues for linux users.

This helped me out a ton.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic … ?page=1#11

1.) open terminal, type "winecfg" without quotes
2.) go to libraries, add "dbghelp" and set it to "(native, builtin)
3.) apply + okay
4.) open up the battle.net client like usual, update your game and enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey everyone.

I'm a linux convert. I've been using Arch for about a week and a half now in light of the recent microsoft spying fiasco, and so far I've been loving it.

I've been running into a problem with Wine as of late.

Anyway, I have had NO problems up to this point. Everything has been working fine but today when I went to play WoW it didn't work.

I went through and looked at what I could fix via installing libraries/DLLs through winetricks. After installing crypt32.dll the wall of text it threw at me in the terminal was much shorter. Regardless, with or without crypt32.dll the end result is the same; me not being able to play.

Anyway, here's what is going on in terminal and an added screenshot of the error the game itself produces for me.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks! smile

Edit: I should probably state that I've completely deleted this wineprefix, generated a whole new wine directory and tried running the game that way, no luck..

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with World of Warcraft & Wine

You can try this:

run winecfg and “disable” the “d3d11” dll in library tab.

I don't have d3d11 enabled, let alone installed. Here's a list of what I got so far.

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with World of Warcraft & Wine

You need to add d3d11 to Existing overrides than Edit and choose disable.

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with World of Warcraft & Wine

Did you try cd to folder first than use wine:

cd /HDD320/Games/Wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/World\ of\ Warcraft/

and than:

wine Wow.exe

?

Yep, getting the same exact problem.

Edit: I should also add that I am able to use the vanilla wow Nostalrius client perfectly, however Retail is giving me grief.
