Touchpad functionality on MBP 2015? [SOLVED]

I've been trying to get the touchpad on my macbook pro (12,1) to work for a while now. At the very least I would enjoy the ability to right click without xbindkeys and have two finger scrolling.

So far I've tried to get synaptic, mtouch, and touchegg to work all to no avail.

I've also been playing around with https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96771 but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this patch working without upgrading to rc6 which all but bricks my box in that I have no keyboard functionality.

Has anyone been able to get this working? Am I simply too much of a neophyte to get this to function?

If anyone can shed some light on this I will be forever in your debt.

Edit: managed to get rc6 up and running.
