First, sorry for my English is not my native language.
I come from the Debian distribution, recently I installed Arch Linux, tried the same configuration as in Debian and in some times everything worked except the resolution, let me explain you.
When I installed Arch only I installed this packages: "base, base-devel and grub-bios" after Reboot the resolution was 852x480 in my monitor 1024x768, I edited the file / etc / default / grub andin the section gfxmode I placed 1024x768 and gfxpayoad = "keep" and "splash" in cmdline reboot the machine.
Grub resolution was 1024x768 and "splash" was the same, but when load TTY appeared for a moment at 1024x768, but in a split second changes to 852x480.
I have tried with the "nomodeset" option and "video = 1024x768" but none of these options worked.
I hope you can help me, I'm really interested in using Arch.
Note: try a 1280x1024 monitor, and curiously Arch changes the resolution to 1280x1024 at 50Hz but I do not know why.
P.D This also affect Xserver
Hardware: Pentium 4, 1 Gb and VIA graphics card

After many attempts and investigations about "Kernel Modules", I found a reference module ran to my video card, specifically "viafb" then move him to the "blacklist" of "modprobe" and problem solved.
