[SOLVED] snd_hda_intel freeze the computer

I know the title isn't very clear, but I have absolutly no idea what's going on with my PC

I have a strange problem with my intel sound "driver" (I guess that's what "snd_hda_intel" is).
I can only give you the symptoms of my problem :
-when I "startx", I have a strange debug message from alsa : snd_hda_intel 0000:02:00.1: CORB reset timeout#2, CORBRP = 65535
-lspci just hangs, without any outut, even with the -vv option
-"shutdown" or "reboot" hangs when it try to store the sound card state
-If I try to switch TTY or to stop the X server, the computer freeze

The wierdest thing is that the sound is still working, even with all these errors.

I have already made some research on google, but nothing working so far.
I have also booted on another linux (OpenSUSE), and I could "lspci" all that I wanted, so I don't think it's an hardware problem.

I know I don't include much information here, but if you need any more logs or debug output, just tell me the command.

PS: I'm not a native english speaker, so please excuse all mistakes and typos hmm

EDIT :

I tried to update my BIOS, but no success so far.
I also noticed that the same message : snd_hda_intel 0000:02:00.1: CORB reset timeout#2, CORBRP = 65535, appear when I try to shutdown or reboot my computer.
So i can't even shutdown my computer normally now. How can a sound driver mess up so bad ?

EDIT 2 :

I might be on to something.
Here are the last lines of the "dmesg" command:

[  +0,008890] snd_hda_intel 0000:03:00.1: Enabling via VGA-switcheroo
[  +0,102391] snd_hda_intel 0000:03:00.1: CORB reset timeout#2, CORBRP = 65535
[  +0,000091] sound hdaudioC2D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD
[  +0,000004] sound hdaudioC2D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD
[  +0,298406] sound hdaudioC2D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD
[  +0,000009] sound hdaudioC2D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD
[  +3,308741] snd_hda_intel 0000:03:00.1: azx_get_response timeout, switching to polling mode: last cmd=0x003f7000
[  +4,821655] snd_hda_intel 0000:03:00.1: Disabling via VGA-switcheroo

Does it have something to do with the fact that I have two sound cards ?

Re: [SOLVED] snd_hda_intel freeze the computer

Fixed thanks to the second post here ! https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p1460933

I had already edited this file following the wiki page for my computer here : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HP … ook_840_G1

The wiki says : options snd-hda-intel enable=1,1,0 , but it seems that options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1,0 works way better.
Maybe someone should edit the wiki ?

Re: [SOLVED] snd_hda_intel freeze the computer

I'm experiencing the same problem too, but this solution did not work in my case (Acer 4820T).
I opened a new thread as I suspect this to be a kernel problem that should be reported upstream (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1541992).

Re: [SOLVED] snd_hda_intel freeze the computer

A non booting machine had the message ....  corbrp = 0 timeout  ...... I tried several restarts (just pressing the power button (having made no changes to the procedure) and it booted!
