Hello,
I've started a fresh install of Arch in Vmware. I can start xorg in root but not as a normal user.

here is the log file
I'm only using xterm and planning on using a tile manager
Everything works in root. I'm going to assume it is a permission problem

Post your .xinitrc and the output of:
ls -l ~/.xinitrc
Run this command as your normal user.

Please see the forum rules on posting images and only post thumbnails if you are going to post images. But if you are just posting text, just post the text, not images of it.
How do you startx? And as already requested, what is in your xinitrc? Why is your xinitrc executable? This is not harmful, but it's pointless, and no instructions on our wiki should have told you to make it executable. What instructions did you follow to do your installation?

I've used the Arch Linux wiki but I don't find it useful since I'm a new user. I've been looking through the install guide and xorg page

as non-root user I use startx command in terminal in order to xorg
I just set the xinitrc as executable since I was experimenting with permission. I can remove the execute permission and I did wonder if it was a security risk. Read and Write for non-root should be sufficient?
I cannot copy and paste right now so I just posted images.
note: I'm only using xterm but I suppose that is not the problem

The wiki is meant to be useful for all users, especially for new ones (have you read the Beginners' Guide?)

Yes. However, what is the output for this?
ls -l $(which X) $(which Xorg) ~/.Xauthority

I've read the beginners guide and post-guide. Just been stuck on this problem for a while
