Network drop after data usage Asus N56V Atheros AR8161

Hi, got a weird one here.

I have the hardware as the title states. I can plug in network, have a running ping work fine. Once I try to reload a website or two, the ping freezes and the sites stop loading. This takes a matter of seconds. If I unplug and replug the network cable it starts pinging again right away. If I rmmod and modprobe alx it starts to ping.

If I reboot to Windows this NIC works without issue.

Checked dmesg, no error.
checked systemctl --type=service to make sure no duplicate networking services (I'm running NetworkManager in GNOME)
Wireless works without issue.

What could be the problem? What should I check next?

Probably yet another driver bug.

Did it ever work in the past? Does it work with the latest kernel available or with linux-lts?

It worked in the past with a different distro. Just recently installed Arch. I'll try with linux-lts. Thanks for the suggestion!

It seems that this is an alx driver bug.
As a workaround you can set MTU size to 9000.
