Arch's linux kernel support for USB 3.0 pcie-x1 card

Hi.

I recently wrote about my problems with USB 3.0 on my Gigabyte Z97-HD3 motherboard with an Intel Z97 chipset. I'm still trybing to do a workaround for it and i would like to try using USB 3.0 pcie-x1 express card. I would like to ask You one thing: do these chipsets have support in Arch's kernels?

I would like to buy, for an example:

Digitus DS-30220-4 based on NEC/Renesas chipset NEC UPD720202
shop's website:
http://www.morele.net/kontroler-digitus … -4-319438/
manufacturer's website:
http://www.digitus.info/pl/produkty/akc … s-30220-4/

It is based on NEC UPD720202. There is also a 4 USB version of these but build on different chipset. It is VL805 from VIA.. It's this:

shop's website:
http://www.morele.net/kontroler-logilin … 57-625063/
http://www.morele.net/kontroler-delock- … 97-733221/
manufacturer's website -
http://www.digitus.info/pl/produkty/akc … -ds-30221/

Can somwbody tell me if these products would work with Arch linux? I need USB 3.0 ports but with Z97 i'm not able to use them...with my external enclosures being switched on and off constantly when they are attached to ports.

Re: Arch's linux kernel support for USB 3.0 pcie-x1 card

I have a card with the Renesas chipset:

$ lspci | grep Renesas
01:00.0 USB controller: Renesas Technology Corp. uPD720202 USB 3.0 Host Controller (rev 02)

Works great. No special kernel support is required, the standard xhci_hcd driver is used.

I also have a pcie usb3 card with a nec uPD720202 chip card that works just fine without having to do anything special with regard to the drivers, just make sure you connect the molex power cable otherwise it might refuse to work.

I remember that I have also tried 1 or 2 other cards with chips from other manufactures (1) at a friends house and they also worked just fine on linux.

(1) I can't recall if it was cards with chips from asmedia and/or via.

Thank you very much. Because of stupidity of my motherboard i had to search for workaround. I will write how it works on my Z97.

Thanks.
