Keep snapshot of a fresh installation

Hello.

Just setup a fresh arch linux system. Til now it has the basic features like TRIM, Last supported Kernel, Network and DNS configuration, only root account and without any GUI.

What i want to do is to somehow save the whole system ( before making changes like GUIs, users etc.) as a snapshot or something like that and to be able after some time (if something will go bad) use that snapshot to rebuild the basic system with those basic configurations.

Which method do you suggest me ?

What about clonezilla ?

From a live environment you can use tar or rysnc.

CPU-optimized Linux-ck packages @ Repo-ck  • AUR packagesZsh and other configs

Re: Keep snapshot of a fresh installation

Would you like to save it on an external disk, than Clonezilla will do, I've used it a couple of times successfully, Clonezilla with an UI is Redo.

Re: Keep snapshot of a fresh installation

The only downside is, that if your intentions are to use is as a backup to recover a broken install an the snapshot is old, you may have some problems updating after recovering it to your original HD.
