pwmconfig not finding motherboard fans

So i recently bought a new computer with a Skylake i5 6600k and it runs great.

The UEFI has fancontrol but it is shit because i can't turn down the speed of my CPU fan to less than 50%, and when the CPU is idle my temps are at 20-24 degrees.
Even when i plug out the CPU fan that is connected to my water cooler the computer stays at 21-25 degrees, so it's not really neccessary for it to even spin.

I used to use pwmconfig on my last computer and it worked out of the box. Just sensors-detect and then run pwmconfig.
On this computer however, sensors-detect only finds the cpu temp, but neither my cpu fan or other fans connected to the motherboard.

I have read about people having to manually load modules to get their fancontrol working, and wondered if anyone knows how to do this?

My motherboard is a ASUS H170M-PLUS

Thanks in advance

Re: pwmconfig not finding motherboard fans

The fans are probably controlled by SuperIO. You may need to boot with acpi_enforce_resources=lax to access it.

If this doesn't help, identify the SuperIO chip on your motherboard (use google image search to get an idea how they look like) and find out whether it's supported by linux.
