Configuring a GameCube Controller for Dolphin

I am trying to install a gamecube controller with a Mayflash adapter to use with Dolphin. In accordance with the wiki I have tried to enable several modules with modprobe, including joydev, ns558, and analog. Jstest /dev/js0 reports no such device or address, even though I know that the controller/adapter combo is plugged in. I think the controller is being seen as a mouse since moving the analog stick moves the mouse cursor. I have no idea how to fix this, please help!

Model, name, number (whatever there is) of the adapter? Output of lsusb?
