I just bought a chromecast and I'm trying to get it up and running. After the initial setup, the next step is to install an extension for google-chrome called "google cast." However, I keep getting an error when I try to add the extension to google-chrome (a very unhelpful error that just says reload the page and try again).
My first idea was to update google-chrome, I have version 40 and the current is version 45. I downloaded the new snapshot from the AUR and installed it, but chrome still says its version 40. So I removed chrome using pacman -Rsc and reinstalled, still google-chrome says it's version 40. Is there something special I need to do to get the software to actually update?
Also if anyone else has used a chrome cast with chrome on arch, I'd be happy to know how you got the google cast extension to install.
Thanks!

Simplest solution, forget chrome and use chromium.

I think you need to kill chrome you probably have the old version running in background
