When running konversation after recent updates (not sure exactly what), it prints
XSync seems available and ready
XSync Inited
Supported, init completed
Created alarm 35651585
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set
Repeating "QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set" at length.
I'm using openbox and tint2. Nothing appears in the tray.
I don't see any recent updates for konversation itself; any clues as to what broke?

Still runs fine here. You could try moving your ~/.config/konversationrc file somewhere and test if it starts up without it being present.

Huh, that indeed seems to have been the source of the problem.
Thanks
EDIT: Ah, it appears enabling the system tray icon causes it to crash.
Guess I'll just disable it for now

That's what I thought. You should file a bug on the KDE bugtracker.

I think, the problem is much broader.
Qt client for transmission fails to start for me for the same reason. Indeed, removing config solves the issue, but only because by default tray icon is not shown. Any attempt to change this option via client configuration dialog freezes transmission (and it starts printing that same message to stderr intensively).
Googling haven't revealed similar issues on other distributions, so I would even assume, this might be archlinux specific (or bleeding-edge version specific).
Please suggest, whether it should be reported somewhere.

I forgot to mention, I reported this issue here:

Thanks for the link. I already found that report via google.
I'm not sure exactly, but I barely remember issues started after that large kde5 migration in archlinux. However, the fact, that non-kde app is affected suggests, that it is not related to kde.
