[SOLVED] Pacman tries to install older revisions of some applcations

Dear members,

As I have just finished a new installation with Archboot, I was trying to update the whole system but, to my surprise, pacman tries to install older versions. I don't need LTS or too stable versions since I want to have it completely updated.

In this link there is a picture to better explain myself (in spanish but version numbers talk by themselves):
https://goo.gl/photos/zKRQ1VugJpTg4pN17

Some examples:
> installed linux-firmware is 20150904.xxx, pacman tries to install the 20150722.xxx !?
> installed iputils is 20150815.xxx, pacman tries to install the 20140519.xxx !?

I have updated keyrings and I have used reflector to select the fastest mirrors sorted by score.

Any help will be appreciated.

Your mirror appears out of date.  Comment out the top one and try again.

pacman-mirrorlist is one of the updated packages. I'd update that package and try a full update again. (Make sure it doesn't save itself as a .pacnew or you might not get the new mirrors)
Have you recently enabled then disabled any of the testing repositories? I got some similar output when I did.

I think I know enough to know I don't know enough.

Re: [SOLVED] Pacman tries to install older revisions of some applcations

Many thanks for your comments, but I did comment out the first mirror, I updated only the mirrorlist, renaming it from .pacnew to mirrorlist, I run reflector several times using the --age = 96 filter and, first, with order = rate and then order = score... all give the same result, downgrading the same programs and trying to install an LTS 4.1.8-1 ...

#reflector --verbose --sort [score | rate] --age 96 --fastest 50 --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

Any other comments or suggestions will be very much appreciated...

Looks to me like you had testing enabled then disabled it. You can wait for the more updated packages to get moved, or you can downgrade them with pacman -Suu.

Looks to me you had the testing repo enabled.

Re: [SOLVED] Pacman tries to install older revisions of some applcations

Hello,

Testing repo is not enabled, only core, extra and community. I do want to keep my current versions. What I don't understand is why pacman insists in installing an LTS even though I don't want it??

My current linux kernel is 4.2.0-3 and pacman tries to "update" it to 4.1.6

Look at https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sor … =&flagged= and https://www.archlinux.org/packages/?sor … =&flagged=.

-edit-

See with "pacman -Qi linux-lts" if you have linux-lts installed or not.

Re: [SOLVED] Pacman tries to install older revisions of some applcations

Thanks lucke and all for your kind comments,

I have come to understand that Archboot uses testing for installation, definitely.

  • For example current iputils is 20140519.fad11dc-1, testing is 20150815.1b5d03a-2 (which I have currently installed)

  • I don't have testing enabled now because I run reflector and it overwrote the original mirrorlist

Thank you again and I wish you all have a nice weekend!

Re: [SOLVED] Pacman tries to install older revisions of some applcations

Archboot is work in progress, when I release a new version normally testing changes are integrated.
For install media a new kernel is included to get latest hardware support.
Most times when I assemble a ISO testing packages are included as well.
You can avoid this by using ftp installation and disable testing repository, this way you get only [core] packages.
