pulseaudio probs (multiple sources don't work) [solved (sort of)]

Not sure exactly when this started happening, but here is the issue:

If I'm playing audio from some source, like mpd, if I try to play a video in youtube (via firefox or chromium) at the same time, two things occur:

1) The youtube video plays, but produces no audio
2) Once I've done this, both pulseaudio-ctl and pavucontrol stop working until I've restarted pulseaudio.

(likewise, if I start by playing a video in youtube, I get sound, but when I then try to simultaneously play audio from mpd, the same thing happens)

I've restored /etc/pulse/default.pa to the factory defaults.

I don't have any idea how to go about fixing this issue. Suggestions for how to diagnose the problem?

OK, I figured it out...sort of.  I started running firefox with firejail, and it appears to be this which is causing the above problem.

It seems to be related to this issue: https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/69
