[SOLVED] Shutdown/Reboot/Suspend/Hibernate Problem

Hi,
I purchased a new HP laptop(15-r250tu) and installed Arch linux (x86_64  using UEFI booting) with cinnamon. I followed the beginner's guide of Archwiki. Works fine mostly(I think). The problem is that everytime I shutdown/reboot/suspend/hibernate or even when i close the lid (closing the lid is set to Do Nothing), it hangs.

I have a desktop running Arch (x86 using BIOS and GRUB2) with the same kernel(4.4.2-1-ARCH) and systemd(226) but it works fine.

I used the x86 version with bios on a live cd, but it hangs too, changed the kernel to linux-lts, used shutdown hook in mkinitcpio.conf but that didn't help either. Searched online but couldn't find a solution that worked for me.

Ran lubuntu 14.10 using live cd and it worked and shutdown perfectly fine.

Here is the output from journalctl of my last boot...

Re: [SOLVED] Shutdown/Reboot/Suspend/Hibernate Problem

I don't know what this means or this is the reason of the problem. But according to the links below, I think that this is a kernel bug, but not sure...
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44991
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1280467

Thanks for the reply...

Re: [SOLVED] Shutdown/Reboot/Suspend/Hibernate Problem

Thanks for your response. Really appreciate it..
I think I'd have to switch to another distro for now until this issue is resolved for me.
Thank you...

Re: [SOLVED] Shutdown/Reboot/Suspend/Hibernate Problem

What kernel does lubuntu 14.10 use? Would be interesting to try the same kernel with Arch.

I had similar issues with suspend/resume hanging on resume on a MacBook 1,1 and reverting to LTS kernel got around the problem for me.

Sorry for late answer. Wasn't able to connect to the Internet for last 5 days.

Thanks for all your answers...

The reason of the problem was in SETUP (BIOS utility).
Disabling the usb3.0 pre-os option corrected the problem. Though I don't know how it prevented the OS and LiveCD from shutting down or rebooting.

Actually I was trying to install Gentoo but the liveUSB, like arch, wasn't able to mount the rootfs. So I was searching for this one's solution and the above solution worked for both... smile
