SYnaptics Touchpad not working with kernel-2.6.3

Hi Archers,

i recently installed the 2.6.3 kernel & my touchpad stopped working. i followed the guide on http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/ but it's still not working. here is the part of my /var/log/XFree86.0.log:

(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 0.12.4
Mouse1 no synaptics event device found
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/misc/psaux"
(**) Option "SHMConfig" "on"
(**) Option "LeftEdge" "1700"
(**) Option "RightEdge" "5300"
(**) Option "TopEdge" "1700"
(**) Option "BottomEdge" "4200"
(**) Option "FingerLow" "25"
(**) Option "FingerHigh" "30"
(**) Option "MaxTapTime" "180"
(**) Option "MaxTapMove" "220"
(**) Option "VertScrollDelta" "100"
Query no Synaptics: 6003C8
(EE) Mouse1 no synaptics touchpad detected and no repeater device
(EE) Mouse1 Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE) PreInit failed for input device "Mouse1"

i also made the nods like the guide suggested, because i didn't have them. /dev/input/event0, event1, event 2

If someone has this touchpad working with 2.6.3 , i want to ask where to put the settings of the mouse in the XF86Config. now they are in :

# Core Pointer's InputDevice section

# **********************************************************************
Section "InputDevice"
# Identifier and driver
    Identifier    "Mouse1"
    Driver    "synaptics"

but maybe they should be in the Input Device section. i have no clue. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance, Shemeta

P.S. OK, i made it work. silly me, i forgot to load the module evdev on startup. now it's working perfect. maybe this might help other people.

How do you create the nodes? Devfs will create a new dev next boot. Didi you tweaked devfsd.conf?
