I3 keyboard bindings

Hi! I'm new to arch and I3.

I'm using a Macbook Pro 10-2 ringtail. I'm using gnome3 and the key bindings are perfect. However, I don't know where the config file for the keyboard is. I would like to know so i can copy the bindings over to .i3/config. I've tried using techniques and configs on other threads, but they either don't work or my screen goes dark and doesn't come back.

my gfx card is intel. I don't have retina display.
