From what I read it seems that Wine from version 1.7.50 onwards has some problems with WoW, also there was regression in WoW patch related to opengl.
I would:
1. Install nvidia blob.
2. Install playonlinux for easy wine version management.
3. Install WoW with Wine 1.7.4x-staging in 32 bit prefix and enable csmt.
4. Follow this comment by Chris Rankin.

The nvidia proprietary drivers isn't an option unfortunately. Thanks anyhow. I'll try the other steps.

It could be nouveau poor gaming performance.

Use nvidia prop drivers, you card is too new to have any sensible nouveau support, why cant you use them? Apart from ideology i'd only see wayland which hasn't all that much traction yet and especially for wine is going to be ways off

When applying themes my icons get messed up, tearing in videos (I've tried all the tricks in the book incl. Compton e.g.) Applications crashing and so on.
None of these issues happens with nouveau. I installed Windows again on my main computer and everything is fine.
