Hi,
I am on arch-current with latest GNOME (2.14) and when using GNOME every action that is WM dependent is performed slower than in other WMs (xfce, kde) e.g dragging windows on the screen, menus poping out, ... I had the same problem on GNOME 2.12, but the update to 2.14 hasn't changed anything.
Anybody has experienced similar problems or have any idea why this happens? Thanks
EDIT:If starting a fail-safe session and starting manually
metacity; gnome-panel
- everything is running very fast/smooth, but after I start
gnome-session
actually it seems to start
nautilus
and then everything is slowing down, the most annoying effect being slow movements on windows move

Not sure what's going on in your case but I found 2.14 to be snappier in performance than 2.12 and earlier versions.

Are you using a background in nautilus? if not, set one, even a stupid pixmap could speed it up. This looks like a cairo issue to me. When you set a background image in gnome, the background isn't rendered with pure cairo rendering operations anymore.

...one of the weirdest things ever, now it's definitely a big improvement
Thank you
