kde screenshot shortcut

I'm trying to take a screenshot in KDE.  There is a shortcut assigned to it in settings but when I use it nothing happens.  I do have ksnapshot installed at running in manually does give me s screenshot.. but what am I missing?  It seems that either a package required to make the standard screenshot work is not installed or the link between my shortcut at ksnapshot is broken.

Anyone seen this or have any ideas about this?

Re: kde screenshot shortcut

The screenshot has probably been added to your clipboard. After hitting your screen capture shortcut, try opening KolourPaint (or another image editor) and seeing if you can paste the screenshot into the active canvas.

Re: kde screenshot shortcut

If that doesn't work, you can easily assign any key you like to the screenshot program of your choice. If the program is in the KDE Menu, simply right click on the KDE Menu, choose Edit Menu, then find the program in the menu. You should then see an option to assign a hotkey to this application. That is what I use and it suits me fine.
