Firefox, Will It Ever Go Away?

When the mozilla-firefox package became available a couple of weeks ago, I built it from source and installed it. I used the standard Arch PKGBUILD and makepkg -bci. Ever since, running pacman -Syu I'm prompted right off the bat with

: : Replace mozilla-firebird with mozilla-firefox from "current"? [Y/n]

This unexpected question persists despite passing time. Clearly, there's something wrong here; pacman isn't detecting the presence of the mozilla-firebox package. Is this a known bug?

Re: Firefox, Will It Ever Go Away?

IgnorePkg =mozilla-firefox mozilla-firebird

in /etc/pacman.conf

should stop this question

but this is only a workaround

Re: Firefox, Will It Ever Go Away?

Hi dp,

Yes, I'm aware of the fact that via /etc/pacman.conf we can instruct pacman to avoid certain upgrades, I'm doing that already with several xfce4 packages I've used to juryrig a WM only version of that group. Unless I hear something to the contrary about this within a reasonably short time, I'll take this matter to the bug tracker.  Thanks for the reply, anyway.

Re: Firefox, Will It Ever Go Away?

Try pacman -R mozilla-firebird.  Pacman keeps seeing that mozilla-firefox replaces mozilla-firebird and it keeps trying to make it replace.

Re: Firefox, Will It Ever Go Away?

when you built firefox did you change the name of the package to mozilla-firefox?

there is obviously some syntax error you made some where that is making pacman assume you have firebird installed.

Xentac, padlaversusmoij, Sarah,

Xentac's suggested pacman -R mozilla-firebird does the trick! Thanks to everyone for their replies.
