I've reinstalled git and all dependencies listed above. I have also tried it with a target path to no avail.
I've also confirmed that the command I've used works for others on the arch IRC channel.
A search doesn't bring up anything. Any suggestions folks?
Thanks

what does `which git` give you?

/usr/bin/git

Can you clone other repos?

Nope

Someone on the IRC channel suggested that I may have installed a package with pacman -Sy. I can't imagine me doing such a thing but mistakes happen. Whether this would stop git from working even after a full reinstall with dependencies, I don't know.

If it's a partial update issue, pacman -Su should fix it.
What shell?

Ummm. It just started working again. I've not done anything, it even failed when I was testing another repo a few minutes ago.
Very strange, thanks for your efforts anyway folks. Appreciated.
