Problem with mplayer manually resizing the window

When I watch a vid with mplayer and I manually resize the window, the content playing does not resize but the window does so when I do it, content is missing. How can mplayer known to scale the video to fit inside the window?

Did you try different -vo option? Some of them could have issues like this.
Or try with mpv
